Steve LaPorte's career as a Hollywood makeup artist brought
him into contact with kites. On location in Miami's South Beach
he came upon a kite festival and was drawn in. He was soon competing,
ultimately designing and building his own kites. Steve learned
to sew as a clown for Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus.
He brings the
same dedication and craft to his kite designs that won him an Oscar
and an Emmy in his film work.
