Anyone....do you have to have the M lines to help with wing wraps when doing Axel's, or am I just doing it all wrong?

I looked over the FS DVD again, and I think that I am not letting one wing out a bit before giving it the tug to spin it around. I don't know if that helps with the wing wrap or not, but I keep getting my lines wrapped around the bottom of the wing. I get the snap stall ok...the kite is pointing up, in a hover and not moving. Might have a bit too long o' line too....

Also, did my first pop to fade launch today...it was cool! Couldn't keep it in the fade for a very long time, but it was in a rising fade. Sorry...just a newbie slack flier gloating over new tricks!

Bought a older Dynamite from someone that had more than 1, and really seem to like flying it for tricks. Really is a great kite.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Howdy Pete!

Catching the line on the wing tip is primarily attributed to not giving the line enough slack.

I think you've got the sequence correct - stall, little push and then pop. The other hand needs to push forward at the start of the pop.

Once you pop, you need to make sure you have slack in BOTH lines - they need slack to keep them below the wingtips.

For the fade - it's a dynamic balance situation - the nose can't get too high or too low. Practise, practise, practise!

Hi Pete,
Getting your lines wrapped around your wing tips is from not giving enough slack. With a axel the more slack the better. I like to do my axels as close to the deck as I can and my fly lines get dirty from laying on the ground while the kite rotates. Pop the axel and give slack and trust the kite will get it done with no help.

The flatter you can get your kite to axel the less chance there is to snag a wing tip. Seems flatter axels come from proper set up and lighter inputs and NO tension on your lines.

Practice the axels with these things in mind and let us know how it works out for you.
