| Purchased a Pyro XS and am having problems with the sail shape. The leach line connectors are the same length but the sail connector ( the black ones are the same length but the right connector is very loose when connected to the leading edge. It is loose enough that the connector line falls off when flying. any suggestions? |

How are you connecting the sail connector loop?

I'm wondering about the intricacies of this some too. The original sail ties (I'm guessing at the proper name for these) just feed through a loop on the trailing edge, then both ends loop over the nock. OK, I suppose there's a reason for this. However, I lost one on the field when packing up. It just slipped out and I was lucky to find it again. I fixed that problem by tying one end to the trailing edge loop with a larks head knot and readjusting the knot at the other end. I tightened it up just enough to get the pucker out of the sail at the cutout where the lower spreader goes, then adjust the leech line as necessary.
There's just one little wiggle factor to consider when doing all of this. The Pyro XS has an O-ring that holds the upper spreader to the spine, and causes friction. I've noticed it will hold the kite a little lopsided when assembling. If you're going to adjust the sail ties and leech lines, make sure the upper spreader is centered first. The leech line should be looser than the trailing edge ties. A little taut, but not puckering the sail.
As a side note to my one and only previous post, you may need to make these adjustments if you replace frame components. I know I did.

I know what you mean. I had to make new sail tension loops when I replaced my lower leading edges. I made it a little tighter, keeping the leading edges tight and a bit curved (but not too musch stress). Flies really well. Just have to make sure everything is balanced- you could actually take the O-ring off for the upper spreader. I've also loosed the leech line loop on each side to make the kite a little louder. A bit less reactive that way, but it sounds cool.
