| I have one that I purchased second hand and I know it's a discontinued kite. I was wondering if anyone else has one, or remembers when it was made and or discontinued. some of the best flying I have done has been with this monster of a kite and I was looking to know a little more about it. |

The Lotus was an older New Tech sport kite, prior to Dodd's work with the company. It was discontinued in 1997 or 98. I have no exerience with the kite as I have not been with the company that long. Here is what the old catalog said about it...
Lotus Team is definitely a high performance kite. Advanced flyers will have an edge over axels, coin tosses, belly lands, anlong with many other high level maneuvers. Speed, agility and precision are all characteristics found in the Lotus Team. The capabilities are up to the skills of the flier and how far he/she wants to push the kite
Wingspan: 96"
Height: 34"
Sail: ripstop nylon
Frame: .2400 carbon
Wind Range: 5 - 28 mph
Pull: Strong
Noise: Very Loud _________________ "Fly a kite for a child and you entertain them for the day. Teach a child to fly a kite and you entertain them for life." |

| Thank you for the information about the lotus. Like I said, I picked it up used and it came to me in the original packaging but I was trying to figure out when it was made and if anyone else had that dinosaur too. I have had so much fun flying that kite in the year I have had it. of all my kites it's the biggest, loudest sport kite I own. I have gotten some mighty sore muscles and some big grass stains fighting that kite. the wind is best at about 15-18 mph to really get a taste of what it can do,any more than that it's hard to control. Always a good day to fly then. I have found that it gets pretty gimpy in less than 10 mph of wind, verry unresponsive. I've heard that NewTech is coming out with more large sport kites of that style. any idea when? |

Hi , last week I bought a new Lotus in a toy store.
The shop owner is quitting his business, so i could get it with a 50% discount.
It still costed me 67 Euro's.
So this is a pretty old kite?
Today i tried it , and it's really fun, it makes a lot of noise, and it pulls great!! |

you managed to get your hands on a new lotus? you lucky dog! (does he have any more?) well done. I have had much fun with mine. you are right it is the LOUDEST kite I own and the pull is fantastic! I hope you have as much fun with yours as I have had with mine one suggestion, a good set of competition straps will make flying easier and more comfortable. the boas just arent up for that kind of strain, and niether are your wrists. _________________ restless wind |

he had only 1 Lotus.
There were a couple of smaller ones , but don't now what brand they were.
Mine is with shades of blue and purple, LT S 2 .
Yes mine ropes are a bit thik , they cath a lot of wind.
Will look for thinner ones.
Can u do tricks with your Lotus? |

mine is the red and orange color pattern. I can't do much for tricks with it other than startle my friends with the pull of it. It isnt quite the setup for slackline tricks if that was what you were looking for. I had a friend try to do some slack tricks and all he made was a lot of laughter happen although it was pretty funny when the first big gust of wind caught it and sent him stepping to regain balance. I had warned him about the pull but he didn't listen I have found that you can hang some massive amounts of junk off of it. the newtech 20 foot tube tails in the rainbow color scheme are pretty impressive on the wing tips and a spinner on the spine slows it down for those reall windy days. just to know a kite can heft all that and still pull is way cool. _________________ restless wind |
