Looking to get a kite here in a month or so and each of those three New Tech appeal to me. The question is which one? I have a fair amount of flying experience on deltas and even more with foils. However, I have never done any tricks with the deltas other than the good old loop. I have the Flight School DVD, so that being included in the package doesn't really entice me. I was trying to not spend very much so the Techno appealed quite a bit, but I don't know if I should be looking at the other two more closely. Is one sturdier than another or are they all the same in that department? My wife has a Prism Quantum (the delta that I've flown the most), but she likes to remind me that it is hers so I am looking to get my own.

Kevin
The Techno would be a good choice for your first kite. With NT/Dodd's kites you get a very good flying kite for the price. The reason for getting the Techno is, it's a lighter weight Std., and might fly a little better for you in lighter winds, than say the FC or the BB. The Techno is a very tricky kite, that you can gain experience with. Remember all Standards are not the same, and don't fly the same, some are heavier and take more wind. Of course if you've got the wind that's a different story, then I'd recommend the FC.

Actually the frame in the Techno is the same as the FC except the FC uses a different lower spreader.

Both are good, the FC is set up for high end trick flying with no retro fits needed. both are good!

The Techno is 9" shorter wingspan and 2oz. lighter than the FC. I love both kites especially the FC, but that 2oz. makes a difference in lighter winds. I have kites that cost 5 times that of the Techno, that won't fly in the same light wind, and sorry to say the FC's in the latter group, but when the winds up the FC rules. Whichever you choose your getting a really nice kite for the money. I've been doing quite a bit of flying lately and after trying out a lot of kites in my over stuffed kite bag, I'm starting to notice small differences like kite weight in the different groups ( Std., UL, SUL.), but I have to agree with Dodd on the FC's trickablity!.

Well, it seems that it should be the Techno or the FC. I like the idea that the Techno costs less, but is the FC worth the extra? Flying in SLC is interesting. I have to drive quite a ways (near the Great Salt Lake) to find reliable steady winds. There are a few parks that are pretty good, but the steady coastal winds I hear about are almost non-existent. How well does the Techno trick in higher winds vs the ability of the FC in lower winds? Anybody know a retailer selling the FC sans DVD for less than the advertized price?

KC

You really should try and make this, I'm sure there will be many kites there including the one's your wanting. One thing about kite people, and that is they will sometimes let you try them out. 4/29/06

The website has all of the complete details except directions. They are as follows: The festival will be held at SunRiver driving range.
Driving directions - From I-15 take Bloomington Exit #4 enter roundabout and
exit the roundabout just past the Chevron gas station onto Pioneer Rd.
South. Continue on Pioneer Rd. going south for a couple of miles and turn
right on SunRiver Parkway and then turn right onto Country Club Drive.

Hmmm, time off work + gas + lodging + eating in restaurants= ****, why not just buy the more expensive kite or get both? Actually, it looks like a lot of fun and if I didn't have a three week old newborn (taking him along would be difficult to say the least, going without him and the wife would be the last I see of them) and an Organic Chemistry final the first of next week I would consider it. I am glad to know about it, though, and will keep it in mind for next year.

Have you got to fly the Techno yet, and what color scheme did you get? It looks like pretty good wind there later today 7 to 8.
