I'm trying to decide between the two of these kites. I'm not an experienced flyer, but have done a far amount with friend's kites. I want a kite that is pretty quick and flies in a diverse range of wind speeds, as well as something that I might be able to fold up enough to put in a large suitcase for travel.

It's hard for me to decide, since they seem so similar.

Any suggestions?

Hello tymers
The PyroXS is much more kite for a little more money. That's the kite I'd recommend!. There has been some problems with the lower spreaders on the PyroXS, but I hope, as of late NT has addressed this, the newer made XS's should be OK! The Cherry Bomb is one tough little tricker the wife and grandkids fly one it's "just like a Timex" Takes a licking and keeps on ticking"!. The PyroXS will take you farther. You can't lose either way.

Neither kite will "fit in a suitcase", but if that is your requirement, a modification could be made to the kites. You would need to add another ferrule on the leading edge (and perhaps on the spine, depends on your size restriction) to enable the wing to collapse even further. The Pyro XS has a 2 piece leading edge whereas the Cherry Bomb has a single. This process will involve a little cutting, some additional ferrule material, and some gluing.
