so i'm just learning how to trick, and after watching a video or three, i drive out to the kite field, and try to pull off a few tricks (both planned and accidental) and what happens? tip wrap. ugggh!

how does one recover from a tip wrap, while in mid-air?
better yet, how does one avoid a tip wrap, in the first place?

what can i do about the end caps on the FC, to make them non-attractive to 150# spectra?

any help would be appreciated, thanks!

yellow1,

Tip wraps come from not enough slack from the non popping hand. When popping a axle push your other hand forward enough so that the line will drop enough to let the wing come around and not pickup the fly line.Depending on the wind speed it will be helpful to move forward also.

Getting out of a tip wrap in mid air is kind of hit or miss.Try spinning the other direction and maybe you will and maybe you wont get out of it,but proper slack will keep the line off your "endcap".

Getting used to the kite and the inputs will get you over the wraps.

Try Long leaders made from bridle line. Measure enough for 2 wraps & finishing halfway up the back of the kite.

Attach about 5' feet of bridle line to each of the pig tails & then attach your lines to ends.

This dosn't cure every line wrap, it does reduce them drastically.

Remember however, they do add drag which can affect your kite in low wind conditions.
