I've read where the initial batch of FC's were made with a "size too large" leading edge connectors for the spreaders; causing them to fit loose. I noticed this on mine (#37). The fix for the upper spreader is to wrap the ends with some electrical tape to tighten up the fit.

My question is for the lower, tapered spreaders. They also seem to fit loose. Is the same fix recommended - wrap the ends with some electrical tape to tighten up the fit?

THANKS!!!

JDB

That's wonderful! I really appreciate NTK stepping up to the plate to resolve the issue.

Whom do I need to contact to get a set of replacement fittings sent my way?

JDB

I sent a PM to Chris with my contact info for the replacement fittings.

In the mean time, I'm still interested in what others have done on the lower tapered spreaders. Add some tape? Or, is it a non issue; i.e. - no problems with the lower spreaders coming out.

THANKS!!

If you wnat a snug fit for a loose spar/connector fitting, use scotch tape, or other like brands that are used to wrap gifts. It stays on the spar better and isn't as likely to come undone. I've had great luck using it. It also works great for making wingtip arrow nocks fit tighter! Too often electrical tape doesn't last long, especially in warmer climates or when used on sand. Give the scotch tape a try.

Hi Troy, there you are. Very Happy Did you got my reply? The email you sent me about Big Bang.

What does scotch tape look like? (Sorry, I never heard that in my country here.) Is it popular? Is it a milk colored paper tape they used to do spray painting? I searched with Google and end up in 3M website. And there is many type of Scotch® Tape...

Eric,
Yes, I received your e-mail and already replied to it a couple of hours ago.

The tape that I am talking about is used to tape gift wrapping paper and is usually 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide. It is on a plastic tape dispenser that also has it's own saw tooth style cutting edge, so when you pull off a piece that you need, you pull the tape over the saw tooth cutting edge and it cuts the tape at the length you need. Do a google search on gift wrapping tape.

Thanks Troy, I'll do another search for this scotch tape for gift wrapping.

Weird...? I did not receive your email. Could you send again? Thanks.

Good wind

Woo!! Thanks so much Chris! Now I don't have to waste my time searching around in Google for "where to buy" scotch tape thing, but I read that it is a very nice tape... Anyway, thanks again Chris. Very Happy

P/S Are you coming to Malaysia in this August for Bintulu International Kite Festival in Sarawak? Did Leong Cee Wan tell you about that?

Smooth breeze everywhere.
Eric

I've only heard about the event in early February. I can never go to that because of the New York Toy Fair. Regardless, I'll be out of the office on sabbatical for almost two weeks at the end of August and into September. Thanks for thinking of me.

Cheers,

Chris
