I just received a New Jam and am having problems putting it together. The instruction manual covered other new tech kites, but not the new jam specifically.

I can not get the leading edge standoffs to go in place correctly. They seem to be about an inch too long. THe various pictures of the kite i have found show them in place with the correct 90 degree angle. I am not sure what i am doing wrong.

Also, what are the mesh panels for? Do they go in between the two inner standoffs?

Thanks for any advice you can give.

If by "leading edge standoffs" you mean the outer one at each side, then the key thing is that they curve. That's a problem I had at at first. Bend it forward so it comes out of the sail at right angles, and curves to meet the spreader at right angles. You should be able to see the curve on the Rainbow Jam in the picture on this page:

:

The mesh panels go where you say, and are intended to slow the forward speed on the kite in higher winds.

After being assured that i could bend the leading edge carbon fiber standoffs - the kite was fairly easy to assemble

flying was great fun - it took my first couple crashes without any problems (first dual line kite for me) - i ended up losing one of the leading edge standoffs after a crash on the beach - bought a replacement + extra for only $2.50 each

overall i am very satisfied with my purchase - wish me luck with my new found hobby!
