This is a test run, to see what I need to improve, to add, etc....for the upcomming DVD. The video will contain other footage and instruction for each trick but this is the main body of the video. Just a sample.
I selected the Flic flac to back spin combination to do first because they are the gate way to the rest of the tricks. The FS video will continue into many combinations and tricks (i.e. flic flac / yo yo and roll ups and.....)that stem from these two basic tricks.
please feel free to email me directly at dodd@newteckites.com

Enjoy
Sincerely

cool me like. this isnt going to be a video for like beginners im assuming...(your not sticking no basic stuff right).
no voice overs!?!?! lol you mean we actually have to read stuff now. .
well i just learned something new from watching you in that video! the axel to fade..seems like i was doing it the other way the whole time. when i would do the axel(slowly) i would pop BOTH hands to flip into the fade right when the kite is in the flare position...i see you just tug on one hand, the hand that executed the axel. hhhmmmmm is it easier to get into the fade from axel like this? _________________ http://community.webshots.com/user/ed_diaz1497 |

Higher winds I use two with more of a snap motion. Tha was a low wind day.
This footage is not for beginners ed, it is the beginning steps for combinations. There will be video that will go in front of this too, that will lead up to the flic flacs, the flic flacs lead up to combinations as you saw with that little clip. and as you found out, no matter how good one thinks they are, there are always little tips and tricks you can pick up.....and starting with the rudiments is always the best place to start IMO.
I am doing a test video now of all of the footage I have with the use of some other things, plus tutorials, plus picture n picture, so we will see how it turns out when I write the test DVD.
But I wont post anymore video clips of the training, to get an idea for the new format.
Hope you enjoy it

I really like this format Dodd. The only thing I noticed was that sometimes I was waiting for the video to continue, while once I didn't finish reading. Very good camera work. I can't wait until its done. _________________ Kitebag:

Ditto.
I just received your Flight School DVD in the mail today and have spent a couple of hours digesting its contents. It's a great vid production, but it's a LOT to cram into 50 minutes. I already know about 75% of the tricks/maneuvers shown but had difficulty in following info on what I haven't yet accomplished. You're going too fast.
The vid format on the flicflacbackspin.wmv is great esp. where the action stops and a "tip" is given. I'm looking forward to more. |

Congrats! I wish you all the success in the world.
I like the this new video better too, it is the same as I have been doing for 10 years, since the beginning, cause I have used stop action before in previous videos. But now with a few extras to help the learning process.
I hope to have the new video completed by the end of summer.
Sincerely

Sorry the feedback is so late - Holidays and all.
I like the format (pic-in-pic especially).
I've concluded that Dodd can only back-spin using his right hand.
(BS Cascades will prove THAT wrong.)
I like the fact that the kite is very visible in all shots - no shots below the treetops or buildings where you can't discern the kite actions.
There was one point in the vid (4:53) that didn't have any reference points - I couldn't tell if I was looking at the front/back/side until the tip touched the ground (I think the kite is at the left side of the window).
[rant mode on]
Some of the other vids online really irk me when they switch from back/front/below/left/right - it's artistic but it breaks the flow when you have to stop and think about the position. It doesn't help a tutorial.
