Based in Tasmania, Australia, Robert Brasington is best known for large 3-dimensional
sculptural cellular pieces and minimalist and representational smaller
flat kites.
He has been a featured guest to international festivals in Germany,
Japan, UK, USA, New Zealand, Denmark, Taiwan, India and Italy as well
as numerous events in Australia. Robert has won Masters Category three
times on different occasions for large sculptural pieces at the Long
Beach Kite Festival Competition 1999, 2001, and 2003 in Washington
state. He also has won the Hargraves Perpetual Trophy and numerous other
awards within Australia.
Three times invited guest to teach kite design and construction at
Fort Worden Kitemakers Conference USA, 2000, 2002, and 2004. Fano
Kite Festival Denmark guest teacher in kite design (only one teacher
per year is chosen from around the world). Drachen Foundation Kite Makers
Workshop USA 2002.
He is currently president of the Kite Flyers of
Tasmania, a very exciting challenge.
